Illuminated Letters & Zentangle®

In this Creative Studio Night we served our participants ranging in age from age 7 to 50+, Zentangle tiles, pencils and Sakura®  Pigma Micron pens. The handouts began with the skeletal forms of a letter. Then the class of 35 participants was introduced to Zentangle and created their very own style of tangling a Zentangle!

Zentangle characterizes a system - an approach to teaching drawing that is associated with a sense of relaxed focus. Students are instructed to draw specific types of patterns from basic components (a line, a circle or square) and "tangle" them into a relaxing creative experience. The designs unfold one stroke at a time. Zentangle is meant to be a surprise to its creator, often allowing a "space" that allows beautiful new patterns and images to emerge.

Learning For All Levels

Zentangle techniques can be adapted to accommodate most learning differences.

The steps of Zentangle are simple and easy to understand. Each step leads to the next one with little need for planning.

Zentangle is used as a tool of personal self-discovery and satisfaction. Here is a brief list of areas within which Zentangle has shown great benefits based on anecdotal feedback:
- Anxiety Relief
- Insomnia Relief
- Anger Management
- Attention Deficit Issues
- Improved Self Esteem and Self Image
- Autism (perseveration)
